Can we say, all together now, “Getting MONEY!”
By now we’re all aware that Floyd Mayweather is no stranger to getting and spending lots of cash. Being a boxing great and also known as the Pay-Per-View King, he’s worth his weight in gold, and Showtime capitalized on it.
The cable network has a 30 month deal which will give him up to 6 fights on Showtime’s PPV. The exact details on the money are being kept mum for now, but we’re sure it’s something INSANE!
The first fight will be on May 4th against Robert Guerrero at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and it will be Floyd’s first fight on Showtime. He’s had quite the lucrative past with HBO…wonder what they have to say about this—
Ray Stallone, spokesman for HBO Sports says,
“We made an aggressive and responsible pay-per-view offer…now we move on. We are focused on the best boxing franchise in the television business. We are proud of the roster of superstar fighters and emerging stars who are scheduled to appear on the multiple HBO television platforms this year.”
Dang homie…that’s tough. I guess Showtime had more money to offer, and HBO has experienced this before when Mike Tyson did it back in the 90′s.
And let’s be honest HBO is not hurting….especially not with the numbers they just reached during Beyonce’s “Life Is But A Dream.”
